The Lone Star Home Show February 5, 2022
Join us as we dive in to how to help your service tech’s make the most informed decisions for your repairs. Then Jill Goulet with Eating the Good, will share her Italian Wedding Soup recipe. We’ll wrap up with some tips to keep your garbage disposal working properly.
A dollar spent on prevention can save hundreds in repairs.
This Week's Highlights

Helping your Service Tech Solve the Problem:
- When you have a problem with your plumbing, AC, or other home appliance, write down what you’re experiencing and the timing. For example: the toilet turns on to refill every 10 minutes.
Achieving Your Home Improvement Goals:
- Have a long-term plan for the home improvements your want to accomplish.
- Break the long-term goal down into short term goals.
- Finally, make actionable steps to achieve those goals.

Eating the Good Pro Tip:
Don’t need pretty meatballs? Save time by making “meatball cubes.” Press the uncooked meatball mixture into a 1″ thick “pancake” on a cookie sheet. Bake in the oven until done. Cut the flat meatball pancake into small pieces using a pizza cutter.

Garbage Disposals Tips
- Don’t use your garbage disposal to grind up fibrous food like potato peels, Brussels sprouts, celery, broccoli, etc.
- Don’t throw bones, egg shells or other hard objects down the disposal.
Troubleshooting Tips for a stalled Disposal:
- If the disposal has an electric hum when turned on, but won’t grind the food, try pressing the red button on the bottom of the disposal.
- If the red button doesn’t work, give the disposal gear a manual turn using the disposal allen wrench that came with your disposal. The wrench can be fitted into the exterior bottom of the disposal.
- If there is no electric hum when the disposal is turned on, make sure the breaker has not tripped.
- Still can’t get the disposal to work? You will need to call in a plumber to help get it working again.
